About Henderson's Dorset

Hello!  I am Rachel Henderson, the founder of Henderson's Dorset.  I have lived in the Dorset all my life and love the county which has always been my home.   I started my walking career before I could even walk, being carried across hill and vale by my parents who were keen walkers and  founder members of The Dorset Wildlife Trust.  Inspired by their love of Dorset, walking and all things wild, I have spent a lifetime exploring the hidden corners of the county.   All of our tours are overseen by me and I will ensure that you get the very best out of your time here.  We can't wait to meet you!

Dorset changes with the seasons and therefore so too should your Dorset escape.  What might be the best thing to do in June, may not be the best thing in September and that is where our expertise and knowledge come in to play.

We have created a range of holidays that showcase the best of Dorset but even these are flexible on some level so that we can make sure you are experiencing the very best that Dorset has to offer and making the most of your precious time here.

If you're not sure what you want, then talk to one of our friendly advisors who can guide you through your options and design something unique to you.

Whether it's beaches, birds, butterflies, beer or brunch that you are looking for, we know the best places!

We do not organise flights but we do offer airport and station transfers as well as chauferred cars during your stay through our travel partners Cross Country Cabs, all of who's vehicles are comfortable E-Class Mercedes which are kept in immaculate condition.  If you prefer to be more independent, then we are happy just to organise your itinerary and provide you with maps, directions, guides and visitor information and send you on your way each day, safe in the knowledge that you are getting the best out of your stay.

Our accommodation partners are the very best hotels and inns in the county and we regularly inspect their rooms and restaurants to ensure that they are still meeting our high standards.  Most of our choices are in the centre of the county so that you aren't too far from all the best sights but we can equally recommend hotels in any location to suit you.  If you have your own accommodation orginanised, then we are equally happy just to arrange your days for you.  Whatever suits you best suits us too.

The Henderson's Dorset Logo

Sitting high above the valley on the chalk downs near the Cerne Giant stands a wind-blown oak, shaped by the winter gales blowing in from the Jurassic Coast to the southwest. Passing by it each day, we have listened to the wind in its branches through the winter, watched with burgeoning hope as it unfurls its leaves in spring, rested on the springy turf beneath its canopy to listen to the birds and insects in the summer and kicked through its leaves in autumn before heading back down towards the woodsmoke and welcoming lights of the village below. And so this tree, with its crookedly pleasing form remaining a constant throughout the changing seasons became a friend and so, when we were looking for a logo which symbolises what Dorset means to us, this was the friend we chose to represent us.
